Matthew's Making Connections!
We are all about helping people to live their life and do the things that matter to them. Recently we have had the opportunity to do this for Matthew.
Matthew is autistic and we have been supporting him through the process of moving on from hospital care into his new home in Cherry Tree Court.
A key part of this has been to help Matthew safely engage in fun activities in the community because in his previous care arrangements he had limited opportunities to do these types of things. By applying specialist Positive Behaviour Support methods and planning techniques such as social stories, Matthew, his family and staff have worked together to put the right type of support in place. As a result, Matthew has been able to get out and connect with nature (by enjoying nature walks while visiting Maurice Park in Cumbernauld) and riding freewheeling bikes with his support staff.
It has been wonderful to see Matthew expressing his happiness and enthusiasm when he is out and about and this has been an important part in his successful move into his new home. We look forward to continuing this great journey with Matthew and wish him all the best for the future.
