Bay Hotel East Region Participation Event
East Region held its 6th Participation Event on the 21st September at the Bay Hotel overlooking the beautiful Fife Coast at Pettycur Bay. This year’s theme was Hawaiian Beach Party to celebrate our 25th year and as you would expect both supported individuals and staff went out of their way to get into the party spirit.
The party started at 2pm but many people were so excited that they were there early to join in the fun. The event caught the imagination as over 150 people attended, more than have attended previous events and more than we had catered for! Luckily the Bay Hotel came up trumps and were generous with their portions so everyone was fed.
The day started with friends getting together and catching up, followed by games, awarding of bid money, raffle, cake competition, tea then ending with a disco where people danced to their favourite tunes.
This year’s event attracted 38 bids from individuals and groups, a record number. Bids included requests for metal detectors, a trike, days out including Blackpool and a safari park and groups such as arts and crafts, vintage cinema nights and a swimming club.
Competition was fierce and we received over 150 ballot papers as individuals voted for their favourite bids. 28 bids received support and this means many supported individuals will take part in fun activities and get together with friends over the coming year.
Thanks go to the organising team and to the staff at the Bay Hotel for making the event happen and to all the supported individuals and staff who got into the party spirit to make the day so special.
